Resumo: Objective: to analyze the practical dimension of health professionals’ social representations about neglected diseases. Method: a qualitative study, supported by the Theory of Social Representations, developed between March and October 2018 in primary and secondary care units in the inland of Bahia, Brazil. The data were collected by means of in-depth interviews and submitted to lexical analysis using the IRAMUTEQ software. Results: the social representations consisted of a practical dimension that described the care process of health professionals with their difficulties and potentialities when facing neglected diseases. Conclusion: the practical dimension of the social representation indicated the need for public policies directed to neglected diseases, care practicesin permanent education in health and professional training with comprehensive care.

Método: estudio cualitativo, con base en la Teoría de las Representaciones Sociales, desarrollado entre marzo y octubre de 2018 en unidades de atención primaria y secundaria de un municipio del interior del estado de Bahía, Brasil. Los dados se recopilaron por medio de entrevistas en profundidad y se los sometió a análisis lexical utilizando el programa de software IRAMUTEQ. Resultados: las representaciones sociales se constituyeron por una dimensión práctica que describió el proceso asistencial de los profesionales de la salud con sus dificultades y potencialidades en el afrontamiento de enfermedades desatendidas. Conclusión: la dimensión práctica de las representaciones sociales señalo la necesidad de implementar políticas públicas direccionadas a las enfermedades desatendidas, a prácticas de atención en educación permanente en salud, y la capacitación profesional con integralidad de la atención.Objetivo: analisar a dimensão prática das representações sociais de profissionais de saúde sobre as doenças negligenciadas. Método: estudo qualitativo, apoiado na Teoria das Representações Sociais, desenvolvido entre março e outubro de 2018, em unidades de atenção primária e secundária de um município do interior da Bahia, Brasil. Os dados foram coletados por meio da entrevista em profundidade e submetidos à análise lexical utilizando o software IRAMUTEQ. Resultados: as representações sociais foram  constituídas por uma dimensão prática que descreveu o processo assistencial dos profissionais de saúde com suas dificuldades e potencialidades no enfrentamento das  doenças negligenciadas.
