Defesa: Curitiba, 28/03/2014Inclui referênciasResumo: Esta dissertação analisa o impacto da série de reportagens "Diários Secretos", do jornal paranaense Gazeta do Povo, sobre as votações dos candidatos Alexandre Curi (PMDB) e Nelson Justus (DEM), reeleitos para a Assembleia Legislativa do Paraná (Alep) em 2010. Os dois deputados tiveram intensa exposição negativa no jornal durante as reportagens, que denunciaram um escândalo de mau uso do dinheiro público na Casa legislativa, porque eram presidente e primeiro-secretário da Alep, respectivamente, quando o caso foi revelado. Ambos respondem a ações civis propostas pelo Ministério Público. O impacto da série é medido por meio de uma análise quantitativa de dados que cruza a área de circulação do jornal e as regiões onde houve perda de votos dos candidatos entre 2006 e 2010, com dois recortes espaciais: os 399 municípios do Paraná e as 10 zonas eleitorais de Curitiba. O modelo empírico inclui mais três variáveis explicativas: o perfil dos gastos de campanha, a produção legislativa no período prévio às eleições de 2010 e indicadores de renda (PIB per capita) e escolaridade (taxa de analfabetismo) dos municípios paranaenses. A hipótese principal do estudo, construída a partir da teoria do agendamento da mídia (agenda setting), indica que, em função da visibilidade negativa gerada com o escândalo midiático dos "Diários Secretos", a perda de votos dos candidatos foi mais acentuada nas áreas em que a Gazeta do Povo se faz mais presente. Os resultados indicam que as variáveis circulação do jornal e perfil de gastos de campanha apresentaram resultados estatisticamente significativos para explicar a mudança no padrão geoespacial de votação dos candidatos entre 2006 e 2010, comprovando a hipótese central do estudo.Abstract: This dissertation examines the impact of the series of reports "Diários Secretos" , published by Paraná's newspaper Gazeta do Povo, on votes of candidates Alexandre Curi ( PMDB ) and Nelson Justus ( DEM ) , re-elected to the Legislative Assembly of Paraná (Alep) in 2010. The two politicians had intense negative exposure in newspaper articles during that denounced the scandalous misuse of public money in the legislative house, because they were president and first secretary of Alep, respectively, when the case was revealed. Both respond to civil actions filed by. The impact of the series is measured by a quantitative analysis of data that crosses the circulation area of the newspaper and the regions where there was a loss of votes candidates between 2006 and 2010, with two spatial slices: the 399 cities of Paraná and 10 electoral districts of Curitiba. The empirical model includes three explanatory variables: the profile of campaign spending , legislative production in the period prior to the 2010 elections and indicators of income (GDP per capita) and education (illiteracy's tax) of Paraná's cities. The main hypothesis of the study, constructed from the theory of agenda setting, indicates that, due to the negative media visibility generated with the scandal of " Secret Diaries ", the loss of votes of the candidates was more pronounced in areas when the Gazeta do Povo is more present.
