Grosenbaugh em plantios homogêneos. Testa as estimativas visuais da variável diâmetro e compara os resultados obtidos contra os cálculos convencionais do processo inteiramente aleatório. Utilizaram-se três áreas florestais distintas onde, na primeira eram conhecidos os valores considerados como sendo os dos parâmetros, devido quantidade de dados anteriormente coletados, os quais serviram de testemunho para a comparação dos resultados. Nas demais áreas foram comparados simplesmente os resultados obtidos entre o processo convencional e o processo 3-P. Para a utilização das fórmulas apresentadas para o processo 3-P foram realizados estudos do ponto máximo de curvatura entre o erro-padrão e o número de indivíduos dentro das amostras, determinando o número ideal de indivíduos a serem medidos. Os cálculos utilizados no processo 3-P são baseados em uma tabela de números aleatórios inteiros, os quais selecionam o número mínimo de indivíduos a serem medidos. Compara o valor real medido com o valor predito, aplicando e estimando, nas fórmulas desenvolvidas, o valor médio do parâmetro. Os resultados obtidos vieram demonstrar que não existem diferenças significantes entre os processos testados. Contudo, os cálculos para a estimativa do volume, a partir da predição do diâmetro, segundo PRODAN não são muito ajustados; recomenda-se então, a transformação do diâmetro para área basal antes de serem efetuados os cálculos. Como não existem diferenças significantes nos resultados obtidos, o processo 3-P vem se caracterizar como viável, tecnicamente, de ser utilizado em plantios homogêneos, devido sua rapidez de execução e menores custos de amostragem.Abstract: The present work has the goal the evaluation of the two stages sample 3-P process (Prediction Proportional Probability) , developed by L. R. Grosenbaugh concerning to homogeneous plantations. It tests the visual estimates of variable diameter and compares the results achieved against the conventional calculations of the aleatory process. Three distinct forest areas were, used on the first considered values were known as being the parameters, due to the quantity of information previously obtained, which were used as a witness for the comparison of the results. On the other areas the obtained results were simply comparad between the conventional process and the 3-P process. To the utilization of the shown formulas for the 3-P process studies were accomplished from the maximum point of curvature between the standard error and the ideal number of individual to be measured. The accomplished calculations in the 3-P process are based in a table of aleatory whole numbers, the ones which select the minimum number of individuals to be measured. It compares the real measured value to the predicted value, applying and estimating them in the developed formulas on the average value of the parameter. The results obtained came to demonstrate that significant differences do not exist between the tested processes. However, the calculation for the estimate of the value from the prediction of the diameter according to PRODAM are not very well adjusted; we recommend then, the transformation of diameter to basal area before the calculation are effected.
