Para tanto, partiu-se de revisão bibliográfica que desse suporte à pesquisa prática levada a efeito por meio de dois formulários, sendo um para os empregados (agrupados em setor secundário e setor terciário) contendo informações pessoais (variáveis sociológicas básicas) e opiniões a respeito da Música Funcional (variáveis específicas), e outro para os dirigentes, contendo informações a respeito das variáveis específicas. Esta pesquisa de campo realizou-se em diversos estabelecimentos do setor secundário e terciário da área econômica da cidade de Curitiba-PR incluindo também uma indústria do Estado de Santa Catarina, por apresentar vim sistema peculiar de aplicação da Música Funcional. O estudo contou com a colaboração de 25 Diretores e/ou Gerentes de Recursos Humanos e 1.914 empregados e/ou funcionários dos respectivos setores. Os dados coletados foram submetidos a procedimento eletrônico e posteriormente foram selecionadas as tabelas mais expressivas e destas foram calculadas as porcentagens para verificação da incidência das respostas. Concluiu-se que: são escassos os estudos a respeito do assunto; a Música Funcional não é aplicada com critérios técnicos, sendo seu uso indiscriminado; a maioria dos empregados entrevistados gosta de trabalhar com música, sendo significativo o número de pessoas que gostaria de ouvi-la durante todo o tempo de trabalho. Em relação às reações provocadas pela música no ambiente de trabalho, mais de 50% respondeu que esta causa tristeza; em contrapartida, 82% respondeu que ela faz companhia quando se trabalha só. Verifica-se também que não ocorreram diferenças significativas entre os dois setores (secundário e terciário), destacando-se apenas um percentual significativo da música sobre o desempenho nos períodos de menor eficiência em relação à jornada de trabalho no setor terciário, bem como ria não preferência da música ritmada no setor secundário. Verificou-se ainda que as variáveis sociológicas básicas não interferem diretamente nas preferências e implicações da Música Funcional no ambiente de trabalho. Em face aos resultados da pesquisa, recomenda-se que a Música Funcional seja programada por pessoas qualificadas, levando em consideração: os períodos de música e silêncio relacionados com os períodos de menor eficiência no trabalho; a seleção das músicas quanto ao gênero, ao caráter e â execução, bem como os aspectos técnicos de transmissão quanto ã pureza e constância de volume do som. Recomenda-se ainda que seja incluída nos currículos das Escolas de Formação Musical e de Musicoterapia, uma disciplina ou parte de disciplina que capacite estes profissionais a atuarem com segurança na indústria, no comércio e em outros locais de trabalho, que empregam a Música Funcional.Summary: The aims of this work are the following: to establish how the Functional Music is regarded at work by the employee and the employer and its means of application; to find out to what extent the music influences the worker in his working environment; to identify the reactions caused by the use of music at work; to check if interested in the Functional Music; to find out the musical preferences of the workers and get their suggestions so as to make a better use of the Functional Musica. In order to achieve all these objectives a bibliographical revision was done beforehand to back up the survey which was held using two different questionnaires; one for the employees (classified in second and third groups), containing personal informations (basic social variables); and another questionnaire for the directors, containing information about the specific variables. This camp research took place in several different institutions of the second and third groups in the economic area of Curitiba - PR. It was also included in the survey as industry of the State of Santa Catarina, which presented a peculiar system of use of the Functional Music. Moreover, this work could on the cooperation of 25 directors and/or managers of the Human Resources Area, and 1.914 employees and/or clerks of both fields. The data once collected was electronically processed and afterwards the most relevant charts were selected. From the- se charts, the percentages were calculated to check the occurrence of the answers. To sum up, one can say that there are very few studies concerning the subject, the Functional Music is not applied with technical criteria and its use is quite indiscriminate. The great majority of the employers surveyed like listening to music while working, and it is quite significative the number of people who would like to listen to music during the whole working period. As far as the reactions caused by listening to music at work, more than 50% said that it makes them feel sad; on the other hand, 82% answered that it is good company when working alone. It was also found out that there weren't any significant differences between the two groups (second and third groups). However, it was noticed a meaningful percentage of the music upon the performance of workers during the periods of less efficiency in relation to the working day of the third group, as well as, it was noted a disregard for rhythmical music in the second group. Besides that, it was verified that, the basic social variables don't interfere directly in the preferences or implications of the Functional Music in the environment of work. Due to the survey results, it is recommended that the Functional Music should be programmed by a qualified personnel who ought to take into consideration not only the periods of music and silence related to periods od less efficiency of work, the selection of the music as far as the style, type and performance are concerned; but also the technical aspects of its broadcast in relation to the neatness and steadiness of the sound volume.
