A relação existente entre aspecto, tempo e advérbio é que os adverbiais atuam na expressão do aspecto, estão sempre relacionados ao tempo e, percebe-se que os adverbiais de uma maneira geral indicam a conexão de tempo e precedência, de delimitação e também de inclusão com a estrutura seqüencial. Nosso objetivo neste estudo é desenvolver o estudo sobre a semântica dos advérbios que contribuem para a interpretação temporal e aspectual, aplicar a proposta de Smith aos dados do Português e também analisar a função desses advérbios na semântica de tempo / aspecto na língua portuguesa. O estudo é composto por cinco capítulos: Advérbios e Aspecto na gramática tradicional; Aspecto na lingüística contemporânea; Tratamento e análise dos advérbios na lingüística contemporânea; Análise da proposta dos advérbios aspectuais de Carlota Smith(1978) e Aplicação da proposta de Smith aos dados do VARSUL.Abstract: This dissertation deals with the matter of the temporal aspect in the Portuguese language and it's based upon the proposal formulated by Carlota Smith (1978), in which it's discussed the time adverbiais aspectual features and the proposition that time and adverb can be regarded as a single class in the structure. The author emphazises the interaction between adverbs and other elements in the temporal specification and explains the adverbial within the sintatic configuration in which it occurs. The current relation among aspect, time and adverb is the one in which the adverbiais contribute to the aspect utterance, are always related to time and, it can be noticed , that in general, they indicate the relation between time and precedence, of delimitation and also of inclusion with the seqüencial structure. It's our aim in this work to develop the study about the adverbs semantics which contribute to the temporal and aspectual explanation, as well as to apply Smith's proposal to the Portuguese language data and also to analyse the function of these adverbs in its semantics.
