Curso de Pós-Graduaçao em BotânicaResumo: O levantamento taxonômico das desnídias (JZygnemaphyceae) realizado em três lagos do Parque Regional do Iguaçu, em Curiti ba, Estado do Paraná, Brasil, está fundamentado na análise de 75 amostras coletadas mensalmente, de cinco estações pré-estabelecidas, durante o período de janeiro de 1982 a março de 1983. Foram identificados 114 táxons, os quais foram classificados em três gêneros da família Mesotaeniaceae e 14 da família Desmidiaceae, compreendendo o total de 102 espécies, 34 varieda des não-tlpicas de suas respectivas espécies e sete formas taxo nômicas também não-tlpicas. Dentre os 114 táxons estudados, 109 constituem-se em citações novas para o Estado do Paraná. Os gêneros melhor representados na área estudada foram Cosmarium (32 táxons), Closterium (20 táxons) e Staurastrum (18 táxons) e os pior representados, com apenas um tãxon cada, foram: Actinotaenium, Co smocladium, Cylindrocystis, Gonatozygon, Ony chonema, Penium e Teilingia. O maior número de táxons foi constatado na estação 1 (84) e o menor na estação 5 (47). Cinco táxons ocorreram durante todos os meses do ano e 27 apenas em um. Em todos os meses ocorreram desmldias em quan tidade considerável, mas o maior número de táxons ocorreu em ja neiro de 1982 e o menor em julho de 1982. Uma espécie e duas variedades de Cosmarium e uma espécie de Staurastrum foram presentemente sugeridas como novidades para a Ciência. Calculadas pelo índice de Jaccard, as similaridades taxo nômicas máxima e mínima entre as flõrulas ocorreram quando comparadas, respectivamente, as três estações do lago maior e os três lagos estudados. Todos os táxons foram identificados com base em suas características morfológicas clássicas e, sempre que possível a partir da análise de amostras populacionais, devido â ocorrência freqüente de polimorfismo nas desmídias. Para cada tãxon identificado foram providenciados: descrição detalhada, basiônimo (quando necessário), medidas, relação das amostras em que ocorreu, distribuição geográfica no Estado do Paraná, comentários e ilustração. Problemas taxonômicos eventualmente verificados em certas desmídias foram levantados, tais como: 1) expressões morfológicas observadas em 26 táxons sem, no entanto, causarem impli. cação taxonômica; 2) medidas celulares que ampliaram, até signi_ ficativamente, os limites mínimo e/ou máximo usualmente encontrados na bibliografia especializada de 70 táxons, também sem implicação taxonômica; 3) sobreposição de características entre as circunscrições dos seguintes táxons: Clostevium ehvenbevgii Mem. var. ehvenbevgii e Clostevium ehvenbevgii Mem. var. immane Wolle; Clostevium tovtum Griff. e Clostevium aoutum (Lyngb.) Brêb. var. vaviabile (Lemm. ) Krieg.; Clostevium tumidum Johns. var. tumidum e Clostevium avouavium Hugh. var. bvevius Presc.; 4) táxons delimitados por características cujos valores taxonômicos estão mal definidos, como: a ondulação das margens laterais em Pleuvotaenium subaltevnans Borge e a radiação em Stau-o vastvum tetvacevum (Kíltz.) Ralfs var. tetvacevum f. tetvaoevum e S. tetvaoevum (Kíltz.) Ralfs var. tetvacevum f. tvigona Lund. As coletas realizadas em 15 meses sucessivos permitiram verificar a não-homogeneidade da distribuição qualitativa da flõrula no tempo, de forma que coletas isoladas jamais são representativas da comunidade. * Treze chaves artificiais e indentadas acompanham e complementam o trabalho, sendo uma para identificação das famílias, duas para os gêneros e as demais para identificação das espécies, variedades e formas taxonômicas de cada gênero. Completam o texto 171 ilustrações, sendo um mapa, oito fotografias e 14 pranchas.Abstract: A taxonomic survey of the desmids (Zygnemaphyceae) of 3 lakes in the Parque Regional do Iguaçu, located in the city of Curitiba, Parana State, Brazil, was carried out on the basis of analysis of 7 5 samples gathered monthly from 5 stations during the period of January 1982 to March 1983. 114 taxa were identified and classified into 3 genera of the Family Mesotaeniaceae and 14 of the Desmidiaceae. They comprised a total of 102 species, 34 varieties which are not typical for their species, and 7 taxonomic formae which are also not typical. 109 out of the 114 taxa surveyed constitute new citations for the State of Parana. Cosmarium with 32 taxa, Closterium with 20, and Stauras_ trum with 18 were the genera best represented in the area studied. The least represented were: Actinotaenium, Cosmoeladium, Cylindroaystis, Gonatozygon, Onychonema, Penium, and Teilingia, each with a single taxon. The greatest number of taxa (84) was observed at station 1, the smallest (47) at station 5. 5 taxa occurred during the entire period of study, but 27 in just one month. In all months desmids occurred in variable but considerable amounts. However, the greatest number of taxa occurred in January 1982, and the smallest in July of that same year. One species and 2 varieties of Cosmarium, and one species of Stauvastrum are here suggested as new to Science. Maximum and minimum taxonomic similarities were calculated by means of. the Jaccard Index, and occurred when the florulas were compared among themselves, respectively, at the 3 stations at the largest lake of the 3, and at those of the 3 lakes individually. All taxa were identified on the basis of their classical morphological features and, whenever possible, also by the use of population samples, on account of the relatively frequent polymorphism in the group. For each taxon identified the following information is provided: detailed description and measurements based on material studied, list of materials examined, geographical distribution within the State of Parana, all illustrations necessary to demonstrate the morphological variation found within the population sample, and, whenever needed, the basyonym and comments. Taxonomical problems net with during the survey are raised as follows: 1) morphological expressions were observed in 26 taxa, but in no case with taxonomic implications; 2) cell measurements were taken, which enlarged significantly the maximum and/or minimum limits usually cited in the literature for 70 taxa, but again with no taxonomic implications; 3) overlapping of diacritic characteristics between the following taxa: Closterium ehrenbergii Men. var. ehrenbergii and Closterium ehrenbergii Men. var. immane Wolle, Closterium tortum Griff, and Closterium aoutum (Lyngb.) Breb. var. variabile (Lemm.) Krieg., Closterium tumidum Johns, var. tum-idum and Clos terium arouarium Hugh. var. brevius Presc.; 4) taxa separated by means of characteristic whose taxonomic value is poorly defined, such as the lateral margins undulations in Pleurotaenium subalternans 'Borge, and the radiation in Staurastrum tetra oerum (Kfltz.) Ralfs var. tetraoerum f. tetraoerum and Staurastrum tetraoerum (Ktitz.) Ralfs var. tetraoerum f. trigona Lund.
