Defesa: Curitiba, 31/08/2015Inclui referências : fls. 169-185Resumo: Esta tese se dedica ao estudo dos dois primeiros territórios da morte oficializados de Porto Velho, concebidos para abrigar os corpos de Categas e Mundiças, grupos sociais que fizeram parte da cena portovelhense, até o final da primeira metade do século XX. O principal objetivo é o de investigar os fatores que contribuíram para constituição dos cemitérios da Candelária e dos Inocentes e as territorialidades deles engendradas pelo universo sócio-espacial de Porto Velho visando analisar as formas de organizações marcadas por singularidades, mudanças, permanências e relações sociais da época que atravessam o tempo presente. Para atingir os objetivos propostos a metodologia utilizada se deu por intermédio dos aportes teóricos de Paul Ricoeur aplicados na análise das memórias dos sujeitos que emprestaram suas narrativas para composição do trabalho. A pesquisa tem por categorial de análise principal o território e suas territorialidades e para caracterização de tais categoriais foi tomado emprestado a leitura de Foucault (2008) que em sua aula sobre "Segurança, Território e População" inferiu que é no território que as disposições espaciais operam circulações de toda ordem e expõe em seu cenário inúmeros elementos de sua composição - relações estéticas, simbólicas, disciplinares, políticas dentre outras territorialidades. Somadas as teorias foucaultianas, cito a relevância dos trabalhos de Ariès (1981; 1989; 1990; 2003) e Veyne (1989) e Vovelle (1996) que muito contribuíram para compreensão das formas culturais de como a morte e seus ritos foram se instituindo no Ocidente; Schmitt (2010) com as representações da morte na Era Vitoriana; Valladares (1972) e Loureiro (1977) com os estudos acerca dos primeiros cemitérios no Brasil; Bachelard (2008), Barros (2011), Claval (2007a), Almeida (2009), Farge (2011), Moreira (2006) dentre outros que fundamentaram as análises concebidas através das narrativas documentais e orais promovidas pelos antigos moradores dos bairros que ficam no entorno dos referidos cemitérios. Fazer tal percurso foi muito mais do que cruzar fontes, significou dentre outras coisas: compreender os ruídos por baixo da história; resgatar detalhes perdidos nas esquinas do tempo portovelhense; um contínuo fazer investigativo de onde brotaram várias interrogações pertinentes ao objeto estudado, além de ter sido um incessante caminhar interpretativo onde coube a mim, primeiramente, e depois ao meu leitor, a tarefa de garantir sentido ao que leio e tomo emprestado para fazer emergir não só o meu objeto particular, mas as mais variadas territorialidades dos territórios da morte em Porto Velho.Abstract: In this thesis I present the study of the first two official territories of death in Porto Velho, designed to house the bodies of both Categas and Mundiças, two social groups that were part of Porto Velho inhabitants until the end of the first half of the twentieth century. The main objective is to investigate the factors that contributed to the creation of Candelaria and Inocentes Cemeteries.and their territoriality engendered by the social and spatial environment of Porto Velho. I propose to analyze the forms of organizations characterized by uniqueness, changes, continuity and social relations which cross the present time. To achieve the proposed objectives I have the theoretical contributions of Paul Ricoeur which I apply for the analysis of' memories of subjects who offered their narratives to the composition of this work. The main analysis of the research is the territory and its territoriality so that one can characterize the categories. For this purpose I find support in Foucault (2008) who, in his lecture on "Security, Territory and Population", has inferred that it is in the territory that space provisions operate circulations of all kinds. It is also in the territory that space provisions expose numerous elements of their composition - aesthetic relations, symbolic, disciplinary, political territoriality among others. Added to Foucault's theories, I quote woks of important scholars such as Ariès (1981; 1989; 1990; 2003) and Veyne (1989) and Volvelle (1996). They greatly contributed to the understanding of cultural forms of death and its rites were being set up in the West. Schmitt (2010) helps us to understand representations of death in the Victorian era; Valladares (1972) and Loureiro (1977) with studies on the early cemeteries in Brazil; Bachelard (2008), Barros (2011), Claval (2007a), Almeida (2009), Farge (2011), Moreira (2006) among others who support the analysis designed by the documentary and oral narratives promoted by former residents of neighborhoods that are in the vicinity of these cemeteries. To develop such a journey was much more than crossing and comparing sources. It meant among other things, to understand the noise below history; to recover lost detail in the corners of Porto Velho people's time; an ongoing investigative work from which sprouted several pertinent questions to the studied object. Besides, it has been a constant interpretive effort.
