Defesa : Curitiba, 29/04/2021Inclui referências: p. 344-358Resumo: Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre os ritmos tocados pelos instrumentos de percussão nas festas dos terreiros de candomblé ketu em Santa Catarina. O termo candomblé corresponde a um grupo de manifestações religiosas, de tradição oral, iniciáticas, que cultuam divindades de origem africana. Destas, o candomblé ketu vem a ser a religião dos orixás no Brasil, originária do reino de Ketu, na atual Nigéria, fundamentada em princípios e simbologias dos quais a música é parte essencial. Durante as festas, parte da trama mitológica é revivida por meio de transes míticos e por uma performance musical e extramusical, na qual a percussão, o canto e a dança formam uma unidade indissociável. Nesse contexto, a música tem função comunicativa, de direção e sustentação dos cultos, sendo um meio de interação com os orixás. A pesquisa objetivou compreender como o sistema musical dos ritmos do candomblé ketu está estruturado em Santa Catarina e como este se relaciona com a estrutura religiosa do complexo cultural nagô. Portanto, procura-se identificar as relações entre os fatores musicais e extramusicais. Do ponto de vista religioso, percebe-se que a formação do candomblé na região catarinense compreendida entre as cidades de Florianópolis e Joinville está intimamente relacionada com a trajetória da umbanda, que, por sua vez, tem ligação com as práticas kardecistas, com a figura do caboclo indígena, bem como, com as benzedeiras e com o curandeirismo dos antigos escravos e seus descendentes. A pesquisa utilizou abordagens de caráter histórico, sociológico, antropológico, musicológico e etnomusicológico; se caracteriza pelo uso de analogias, procurando manter paralelamente sua natureza estrutural, holística e detalhista. Foi adotado o método etnográfico, sendo este organizado em três dimensões de atuação: trabalho de escritório, trabalho de campo e trabalho de estúdio. Para realizar a transcrição dos toques foi utilizada a Tablatura para Percussão, uma notação musical alternativa desenvolvida nesta pesquisa a partir de parâmetros rítmicos sobre músicas de matriz africana, a qual contribuiu para organizar o sistema rítmico do candomblé ketu e encontrar relações entre os fatores musicais e extramusicais. O trabalho de transcrição é resultado de um processo de aprendizado de todos os toques estudados, os quais foram gravados e estão disponíveis em links no YouTube. Será demonstrado que os ritmos e as festas refletem o caráter de uma religião assentada em princípios seculares, caracterizada por sua complexidade musical, social, cultural e religiosa; e; por uma narrativa mitológica musical e extramusical que é principalmente conduzida pelos instrumentos de percussão. Tablatura para percussão.Abstract: This work presents a study on the rhythms played by percussion instruments at the parties of the Candomblé Ketu in the state of Santa Catarina. The term candomblé corresponds to a group of religious manifestations, of oral tradition, initiatics, that worship deities of African origin. Of these, Candomblé Ketu becomes the religion of the orixás in Brazil, originally from the kingdom of Ketu, in present-day Nigeria, based on principles and symbologies of which music is an essential part. During the parties, part of the mythological plot is revived through mythical trances and a musical and extramusical performance, in which percussion, singing and dancing form an inseparable unit. In this context, music has a communicative function, of directing and sustaining cults; being a means of interaction with the orixás. The research aimed to understand how the musical system of the rhythms of Candomblé Ketu is structured in Santa Catarina and how it relates to the religious structure of the Nagô cultural complex. Therefore, I try to identify the relationships between musical and extra-musical factors. From the religious point of view, it is clear that the formation of candomblé in the Santa Catarina region between the cities of Florianópolis and Joinville is closely related to the trajectory of Umbanda, which, in turn, is connected with Kardecist practices, with the figure of the indigenous caboclo, as well as, the healers, former slaves and their descendants. The research used historical, sociological, anthropological, musicological and ethnomusicological approaches; it is characterized by the use of analogies, seeking to maintain in parallel its structural, holistic and detailed nature. The ethnographic method was adopted, which is organized into three dimensions of activity: office work, field work and studio work. To perform the transcription of the rhythms, Tablature for Percussion was used, an alternative musical notation developed in this research based on rhythmic parameters on African music, which contributed to organize the rhythmic system of Candomblé Ketu and to find relationships between musical factors and the extramusicals. The transcription work is the result of a process of learning all the rhythms studied, which were recorded and are available on links on YouTube. It will be demonstrated that the rhythms and parties reflect the character of a religion based on secular principles, characterized by its musical, social, cultural and religious complexity, which can only be interpreted through a long period of experience; and by a musical and extramusical mythological narrative that is principally conducted by percussion instruments.
