Defesa: Curitiba, 04/07/2012Inclui referênciasÁrea de concentração : Economia e Politica FlorestalResumo: O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar uma análise de cunho técnico e econômico do mercado paranaense de lenha de eucalipto para secagem de produtos agrícolas. A Análise técnica visou determinar qual a quantidade de lenha ótima para secagem de grãos, baseado nas variáveis, tais como: poder calorífico da madeira, umidade de colheita dos grão e eficiência térmica global da caldeira. A quantidade de lenha necessária para secagem de 1 tonelada de milho, soja e trigo (principais culturas agrícolas do Paraná) são respectivamente 0,078, 0,043, 0,060 m3 de lenha, considerando a eficiência térmica global do equipamento em 50% e o teor de umidade da madeira no ato da queima 30% de umidade. O estudo econômico consistiu em analisar o balanço entre oferta e demanda por lenha para secagem de grãos no estado e estimar a viabilidade econômica ao implantar florestas destinadas a fins energéticos. O estudo foi realizado em 19 cooperativas agrícolas distribuídas nas seis áreas de zoneamento agrícola no Paraná. Estas cooperativas agrícolas amostradas responderam por 49% da produção agrícola estadual e estimou-se o consumo anual de 1,2 milhões de m3 de lenha para secagem de milho, soja e trigo, para a safra 2009/2010. O preço médio nominal pago para compra da lenha entregue no pátio no Paraná foi R$ 66,80 entre 2010 e 2011. O custo médio total com a compra de lenha pelas cooperativas foi em torno de R$ 85,6 milhões para período em análise. As cooperativas agrícolas possuem 16 mil hectares de áreas de reflorestamento próprio, no entanto para tornaremse auto suficientes há um déficit florestal de 14,5 mil hectares. Para o Estado do Paraná, a área mínima necessária de florestas destinadas a atender a demanda energética agrícola é em torno de 62,4 mil hectares. O Paraná dispõem de uma área com reflorestamento de eucalipto em torno de 507 mil hectares, entretanto estas áreas não estão distribuídas igualitariamente no estado, apresentando um déficit florestal principalmente em regiões historicamente agrícola como o norte, oeste e centro-oeste do Paraná. A análise de rentabilidade econômica apresentou que é viável a implantação de reflorestamento com fins energéticos nas regiões norte, centro-sul, centro-oeste e noroeste do Paraná, para o cenário com regime de manejo com três ciclos de condução da floresta e taxa de juros real de 4,13% a.a.Abstract: The objective of this study was to conduct a technical and economic analysis of the eucalyptus fuelwood market in the state of Paraná for drying agricultural products. The technical analysis sought to determine optimal fuelwood quantities for drying grains based on the following variables: calorific value of fuelwood, grain humidity at harvest, and oven thermal efficiency. We found that 0.078, 0.043, and 0.060 m3 of fuelwood were required to dry 1 ton of corn, soybeans, and wheat, respectively, given 50% thermal efficiency of the drying equipment and 30% humidity of the fuelwood at the time of combustion. The economic analysis sought to analyze the balance between fuelwood supply and demand in the state for drying grains and to estimate the economic viability of implementing energy forestry programs. 19 agricultural cooperatives located throughout the state that burn fuelwood to dry grains were surveyed in this study. These agricultural cooperatives represent 49% of the state's agricultural output and an estimated 1.2 million m3 of fuelwood was consumed to dry corn, soy, and wheat for the 2009-2010 harvest. The average price per m3 paid for delivered fuelwood in Paraná was R$66.80 between 2010 and 2011. The average total cost for fuelwood purchases by the cooperatives was R$85.6 million during that period. The agricultural cooperatives held 16,000 hectares of forest plantations, but required an additional 14,500 ha of planted forest to meet all of their fuelwood needs. The state of Paraná requires an estimated minimum area of 62,400 ha of planted forest to meet the needs of the entire agricultural industry. Eucalyptus plantations occupy an estimated 507,000 ha in Paraná, although they are not distributed evenly throughout the state, running a forest deficit primarily in the historically agricultural regions of the North, West, and Central-West of the state. An analysis of economic return revealed that energy forestry programs in the North, Central-South, Midwest, and Northwest regions of Paraná were profitable for a managed timber regime with a clearcut harvest at 21 years and a real interest rate of 4.13% per annum.143 f. : il.
