Resumo: ABSTRACT: A comparative"study envolving different soll preparation systems for rice plantía tions was conduced in the Amazônia Estuary : "várzea alta", intending to indicate the bet management of the area for increasing the cultural efficiency. Four management systems were studied: a) burning of the vegetation after cleaning; b) incorporation of the plant cover; o) soil mobilization withat plant cover; d) cleaning the area by herbicydes. The soil preparation with incorporation of crop residues showed to be the mot efficient since it allowed a yield (Kg/ha] 26% greater than the treatment 3,34% greater than the treatmenf d and 40% greater than the treatment a.

Foram estudados 4 sistemas de manejo para a área: a) queima da vegetação após roçagem; b) incorporação da cobertura vegetal; c) mobilização do solo sem a cobertura vegetal; e d) limpeza da área utilizando herbicida.
