Resumo: In order to study the spatial distribution of soil resistance to penetration in perennial crop (citrus), one collected 144 samples regularly in grid and transect distributed were collected. Data characterized by soil resistance to penetration and grouped into 0.1 m layers of soil, were analyzed by statistics, showing the non-normal distributions with strong positive asymmetry. The simple logarithmic transformation did not result in homogeneity of variance, original data were transformed. The semivariograms showed different spatial structures. This may indicate that the simple determination of the spatial variability of data without checking the intrinsic hypothesis is susceptible to other influences excepting the true spatial variability of the attribute in question.

Os dados caracterizados por resistência do solo à penetração e agrupados em camadas de solo (0,1 m) foram analisados estatisticamente evidenciando a não normalidade das distribuições. Os dados originais foram transformados e gráficos de média-variância foram utilizados para verificar a estacionalidade exigida. A simples transformação logarítmica não resultou na homogeneidade da variância, sendo que o polimento por mediana apresentou melhor resultado, sem, porém, resultar numa distribuição normal dos dados. Os semivariogramas mostraram diferentes estruturas espaciais.
