Resumo: For the germination of oil palm seeds the dry heat method was used, with a heat treatment of the seeds (TT) at 39 ºC ± 1 ºC, the time and humidity of the seed being variable depending on the genotype. The optimization of the TT period can reduce cost and increasing the germination rate. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of water content and TT in overcoming dormancy and germination of freshly harvested of dura-type oil palm seeds of Deli origin. The design was completely randomized, in a factorial scheme 5 × 3, being five intervals of humidity ranges (IGU): 18-19%; 19-20%; 20-21%; 21-22% and 22-23% and three TT periods: 30, 40 and 60 days, with four replicates of 250 seeds. The percentage of germination, germination at the first count (PCON) and germination speed index (IVG) were evaluated. The combination of 30 days of TT with IGU of 18% to 19% was the most favorable for germination rate and variables associated with seed vigor (PCON, IVG). To overcome dormancy and germination of dura type oil palm seeds, the combination of TT of 30 days with IGU of 18% to 19% at the beginning of the process, conditions in which germination higher than 90% of the seeds is obtained and with high vigor.

Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia/UFRA2019-09-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersiontextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://ajaes.ufra.edu.br/index.php/ajaes/article/view/3086Amazonian Journal of Agricultural Sciences Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Vol 62 (2019): RCARevista de Ciências Agrárias Amazonian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; v. 62 (2019): RCA2177-87601517-591Xreponame:Revista de Ciências Agrárias (Belém.
