Resumo: Overcoming dormancy of oil palm seeds is achieved with heat treatment (TT) at 39 ºC, however, the answer depends of water content interval (IGU) and period of TT appropriate to the seed conditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of IGU and TT period on the germination and vigor of stored seeds of the cultivar BRS-C2501. The experiment was carried out with seeds stored for 30 months, in a completely randomized design and factorial scheme with five IGU: 18-19; 19-20; 20-21; 21-22 and 22-23% and three periods of TT: 30, 45 and 60 days. The evaluated variables were seed germination (GERM), expressed as a percentage of total germinated seeds, germination at the first count (PCON) and Germination Speed Index (IVG). The most favorable results were obtained with the combination of 30 days of TT and IGU of 20 to 21%, with values of 87% for GERM, 83% for PCON and 35 for IVG. The results indicated that oil palm seeds of the BRS-C2501 cultivar stored at 21 ± 1 ºC and relative humidity between 60% and 70% showed high viability and vigor up to 30 months of storage. To overcome the dormancy of stored BRS-C2501 cultivar seeds, it is recommended to adjust the seeds water content interval to 20-21% and heat treatment period at 39 ± 1 ºC for 30 days, conditions that result in high germination rate and vigor of the seeds.

Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia/UFRA2021-06-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://ajaes.ufra.edu.br/index.php/ajaes/article/view/3382Amazonian Journal of Agricultural Sciences Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Vol 64 (2021): RCA AJAESRevista de Ciências Agrárias Amazonian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; v. 64 (2021): RCA AJAES2177-87601517-591Xreponame:Revista de Ciências Agrárias (Belém.
