Resumo: | The use of herbicides with long residual activity in the soil reduces the number of applications and production costs, but may cause adverse effects to sensitive crops planted in succession. Two field experiments were conducted to evaluate the residual effects of herbicides on corn and soybean crops. The experiments were performed with randomized block design with four replications. The treatments consisted of four herbicides: Atrazine, Flumioxazin, Metribuzin and DHS mixture (diuron, hexazinone and sulfometuron-methyl) and a control group without herbicide. The sowing of corn and soybean occurred 120 days after pre-emergence application of herbicides. Assessments of SPAD index, dry matter of the aerial part and productivity for both crops were conducted. The number of grains and pods per plant and the weight of a thousand grains also were determined for the soybean crop. The herbicide residuals in the soil caused phytotoxic effects on both corn and soybean crops, reducing the intensity of green in the leaves, amount of dry matter of the aerial part and productivity. No residual effect was observed for Atrazine and Metribuzin on corn. Residual activity of DHS mixture in the soil causes higher toxicity for both corn and soybean, with a negative effect on all variables analyzed. |

Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia/UFRA2018-09-24info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://ajaes.ufra.edu.br/index.php/ajaes/article/view/2570Amazonian Journal of Agricultural Sciences Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Vol 61 (2018): RCARevista de Ciências Agrárias Amazonian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; v. 61 (2018): RCA2177-87601517-591Xreponame:Revista de Ciências Agrárias (Belém.
