Resumo: In this study I will analyze the premises and the reasons why Territorialists and Zionists of the fin du siècle and the first decades of the 20th century decided to expand their “horizons” so that they could contemplate other plausible options for the creation of a Jewish homeland other than their first and obvious choice, namely, Palestine and the creation of the future State of Israel (May 14, 1948).  After a brief survey of the other territorial choices, encompassing diverse areas throughout the world, I will concentrate on the “Angolan option” (1907-1914), looking at the different projects and recommendations in favor or against this choice, as well as the consequent sociopolitical dynamics that left indelible marks on the economy of the Portuguese State of this time.
