Resumo: There is conversation and convergence between Suzanne Roussi Césaire’s essays and Aimé Césaire’s poems. Lilian Pestre de Almeida, in the afterword to the edition of A grande camuflagem (2021), points out some of them: passages from Aimé quoted by Suzanne and passages from Suzanne taken up and reworked by Aimé. Both interrogate Martinican identity and its specific intersection of colonial past, assimilated present, and desired future; in both recur figurations of nature, and particularly, in Aimé Césaire’s poetry, figurations of person-plant. I present in this paper the notion of plant-person formulated in two essays by Suzanne Césaire and a translation of Aimé Césaire's poem “Les purs-sang”, which poetically figures this notion.

Lilian Pestre de Almeida, no posfácio da edição de A grande camuflagem (2021), aponta algumas delas: passagens de Aimé citadas por Suzanne e passagens de Suzanne retomadas e retrabalhadas por Aimé. Ambos interrogam a identidade martinicana e seu cruzamento específico de passado colonial, presente assimilado e futuro desejado; em ambos recorrem figurações da natureza e, particularmente, na poesia de Aimé Césaire, figurações de pessoa-planta.
