ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN ATIVO MOSSORÓ OF RN/CE UNIT OF PETROBRAS

Resumo: The environmental issue has sparked interest in communities, in the media, in academic areas. Studies in several areas are done with this theme, but the discussions do not approach the same focus. In Administration, for example, the changes related to environmental aspects are usually discussed and stimulated by groups that, in general, work with Socio-environmental Responsibility, Sustainability and Environmental Management. The communication and the attempt to mobilize the members that are part of this process in the company are basically treated in terms of people training. In Education, in Environmental Education ‘subarea’, studies related to environmental changes are consolidated, articulated with social cultural aspects. However, there is no consolidated integration between these areas. The aim of this work was to analyze the practice of Environmental Education and Environmental Management in a Petrochemical company, reflecting about the knowledge manifested by workers. For this, based in an interpretativist approach, it was made a case study made in Ativo Mossoró of Unidade RN/CE of Petrobras, with questionnaires, document analysis and interviews. In the case study, workers and company’s conceptions of Environmental Education, Environment, Sustainable Development, Environmental Management were identified. Besides, it was noticed dialogic elements, characterized as those that are at the same time competitive, antagonistic and complementary, such as the company business versus environmental preoccupation; results obtained in this study through quantitative methods versus qualitative methods; theoretical fundaments in Environmental Education versus theoretical fundaments in Environmental Management; and the theory versus practice under the view of academic versus business context.

El tema ambiental despierta interés en las comunidades, en los medios mediáticos, en los espacios académicos. Investigaciones en las más diversas áreas son hechas con esa misma temática, pero las discusiones no abordan el mismo foco. En la Administración, por ejemplo, los cambios de fundo ambiental son discutidas y estimuladas por grupos que trabajan, en general, Responsabilidad Socioambiental, Sustentabilidad y Gestión Ambiental (GA). La comunicación y la tentativa de movilización de los miembros que hacen parte del proceso en la empresa son tratadas más en términos de orientación de personal. Ya en la Educación, en la “subarea” de Educación Ambiental (EA), son consolidados los estudios más vinculados a los cambios ambientales, articulados a los aspectos de orden socioculturales. Sin embargo, se percibió que no hay integración consolidada entre esas áreas. El objetivo de esa investigación fue analizar las áreas de Educación Ambiental y Gestión Ambiental en una empresa del sector petroquímico, reflexionando acerca del conocimiento percibido por los trabajadores. Así, apoyado en un abordaje interpretativo, se realizó un estudio de caso en Ativo Mossoró de la Unidad RN-CE de la Petrobrás, contando con cuestionarios, análisis de documentos y entrevistas. En el estudio de caso se identificó las concepciones de Educación Ambiental, Medio Ambiente, Desarrollo Sustentable, Gestión Ambiental de funcionarios y de la empresa. Además, se percibió elementos dialógicos, caracterizados como aquellos al mismo tiempo concurrentes, antagónicos y complementares, tales como: el negocio de la empresa versus preocupación ambiental, resultados obtenidos en ese estudio mediante los métodos cuantitativos versus métodos cualitativos, suposiciones teóricos de la EA versus suposiciones teóricos de la GA, y la teoría versus práctica en la ótica de la academia versus contexto empresarial. O tema ambiental tem despertado interesse nas comunidades, nos meios midiáticos, nos espaços acadêmicos. Estudos nas mais diversas áreas são feitos com essa temática, mas as discussões não abordam o mesmo foco. Na Administração, por exemplo, as mudanças de cunho ambiental são discutidas e estimuladas por grupos que trabalham, em geral, Responsabilidade Socioambiental, Sustentabilidade e Gestão Ambiental (GA). A comunicação e a tentativa de mobilização dos membros que fazem parte desse processo na empresa são tratadas mais em termos de treinamento de pessoal. Já na Educação, na “subárea” de Educação Ambiental (EA), são consolidados os estudos mais vinculados às mudanças ambientais, articulados a aspectos de ordem sócio-culturais. Contudo, percebe-se que não há integração consolidada entre essas áreas. O objetivo desse trabalho foi o de analisar a ações de Educação Ambiental e Gestão Ambiental em uma empresa do setor petroquímico, refletindo acerca do conhecimento denotado pelos trabalhadores. Para isso, apoiado em uma abordagem interpretativista, foi realizado um estudo de caso realizado no Ativo Mossoró da Unidade RN/CE da Petrobras, contando com questionários, análise de documentos e entrevistas. No estudo de caso foram identificadas as concepções de Educação Ambiental, Meio Ambiente, Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Gestão Ambiental de funcionários e da empresa.
