BIBLIOMETRIC STUDY OF THESES AND DISSERTATIONS IN THEADMINISTRATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Resumo: The objective of this study was to determine the characteristics of scientific production of theses and dissertations that treat the theme of environmental sustainability management graduate studies program in Brazil, from 1998 to 2009. The exploratory / descriptive was conducted through document analysis and content, with qualitative and quantitative approach. Data were collected in the database of CAPES, which were selected strictly only courses in Business Administration. The database of CAPES was chosen after exploratory research work, being the base with greater availability of data in the largest amount of time. This was a longitudinal study with data from a period of 12 years. Were read and categorized the titles of 13,656 theses and dissertations, of which 529 were found related to the environment, classified in 26 categories. The survey results show that there was growth of the total volume of theses and dissertations in Brazil, which was accompanied by the total work, defended the environmental dimension, particularly in the last five years of analysis. The data show a predominance of theses and dissertations focused on the topics: environmental management, sustainable development, corporate sustainability, waste management, green marketing, sustainable tourism, environmental management system, clean development mechanism, alternative energy and water resources that correspond 76.4% of the work. There is greater participation in percentage terms and absolute master of dissertations from in relation to the master's professional dissertations and doctoral degrees. The southeastern region with the largest number of theses and dissertations on the environmental dimension, but the North has the highest proportional contribution of work in this area. Of a total of 55 Higher Education Institutions, ten account for 52.4% of theses and dissertations in the period, mostly in south and southeast. There is a concentration of studies of the environmental dimension in one or two teachers of the programs studied.

La investigación exploratoria] descriptiva fue realizada por medio de análisis documental y de contenido, con abordaje cualitativa y cuantitativa. Los datos fueron colectados en el base de datos de la CAPES, en que se seleccionó solamente datos de los cursos stricto sensu en Administración. Se seleccionóla Base de datos dela CAPES después de los trabajos exploratorios de investigación, por ser la base con mayor disponibilidad de datos en el mayor espacio de tiempo. Se trató de un estudio longitudinal, con datos de un período de 12 años. Se hizo la lectura y la clasificación de los títulos de 13656 tesis y disertaciones, de las cuales se encontró 529 relacionadas al área ambiental, clasificadas en 26 categorías. Los resultados de la investigación muestran que hubo crecimiento del volumen total de tesis y disertaciones en Brasil, que acompaño la totalidad de trabajos defendidos en la dimensión ambiental, principalmente en los últimos cinco años de análisis. Los datos muestran una predominancia de tesis y disertaciones dirigidas para las temáticas: gestión ambiental, desarrollo sustentable, sustentabilidad empresarial, gestión de residuos, marketing verde, turismo sustentable, sistema de gestión ambiental, mecanismo de desarrollo limpio, energías alternativas y recursos hídricos que corresponden a 76,4% de los trabajos. Se observó mayor participación en termos porcentuales y absolutos, de disertaciones provenientes de maestría en relación a la maestría profesional y al doctorado. La región sudeste es la que presenta el mayor número de tesis y disertaciones en la dimensión ambiental, sin embargo la región Norte proporcionalmente tiene la mayor contribución de trabajos en el área. De un total de 55 Instituciones de Enseñanza Superior (IES), diez son responsables por 52,4% de las tesis y disertaciones defendidas en el período, la mayoría en las regiones sur y sudeste. Hay una concentración de trabajos de la dimensión ambiental en uno o dos profesores de los programas investigados. O objetivo neste trabalho foi verificar as características da produção científica das teses e dissertações que tratam do tema sustentabilidade ambiental em programas stricto sensu de administração do Brasil, no período de 1998 a 2009. A pesquisa exploratória descritiva foi realizada por meio de análise documental e de conteúdo, com abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa. Os dados foram coletados na base de dados da CAPES, da qual foram selecionados apenas os cursos stricto sensu em Administração. A Base de dados da CAPES foi escolhida após os trabalhos exploratórios de pesquisa, por ser a base com maior disponibilidade de dados no maior espaço de tempo. Tratou-se de um estudo longitudinal, com dados de um período de 12 anos. Foram lidos e classificados os títulos de 13656 teses e dissertações, das quais foram encontradas 529 relacionadas à área ambiental, classificadas em 26 categorias. Os resultados da pesquisa mostram que houve crescimento do volume total de teses e dissertações no Brasil, que foi acompanhado pelo total de trabalhos defendidos na dimensão ambiental, principalmente nos últimos cinco anos da análise. Os dados mostram uma predominância de teses e dissertações voltadas para os temas: gestão ambiental, desenvolvimento sustentável, sustentabilidade empresarial, gestão de resíduos, marketing verde, turismo sustentável, sistema de gestão ambiental, mecanismo de desenvolvimento limpo, energias alternativas e recursos hídricos que correspondem a 76,4% dos trabalhos. Observa-se maior participação em termos percentuais e absolutos, de dissertações provenientes de mestrado em relação ao mestrado profissional e ao doutorado. A região Sudeste é que apresenta o maior número de teses e dissertações na dimensão ambiental, mas a região Norte proporcionalmente tem a maior contribuição de trabalhos nessa área. De um total de 55 Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES), dez são responsáveis por 52,4% das teses e dissertações defendidas no período, a maioria nas regiões sul e sudeste.
