Resumo: | The objective of this article is to characterize the special features of the operational modernization process and of the Human Resources Management in three enterprises of the third sector: one company in the public transportation business and two companies in the commerce, located in the State of Espírito Santo. This is an exploratory study which aims at discovering the form through which the measures of the organizations and measures of management related to the Fordist production logics compared to those measures originated from a typical logics of service rendering seem to be related. Reduction of costs is the element that encourages the investments in the modernization of the operational work and also inspires practices of reduction of number of employees and the remain of traditional formats in what refers to work organization and the payment policies as well as the employees' professional capacity building. |

Se trata de un estudio explotatorio que procura desvendar la forma por la cual aparecen conciliados, en esas empresas, los procedimientos de organización y de gestión inherentes a la lógica de la producción industrial fordista con aquellos provenientes de una lógica típica de prestación de servicios. El propósito de reducción de custos es el elemento que impulsiona los investimientos en modernización de los procedimientos operacionales, y que también inspira prácticas de disminución en el número de empleados y de permanencia de formatos tradicionales en lo que se refiere a la organización del trabajo y a las políticas de remuneración y de capacitación profesional de los empleados. O objetivo deste artigo é caracterizar as particularidades do processo de modernização operacional e de gestão de pessoal em três empresas do setor terciário — uma do segmento de transporte de passageiros e duas do segmento de comércio — localizadas no Espírito Santo. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório que procura desvendar a forma pela qual aparecem conciliados, nessas empresas, os procedimentos de organização e de gestão inerentes à lógica da produção industrial fordista com aqueles provenientes de uma lógica típica de prestação de serviços. O propósito de redução de custos é o elemento que impulsiona os investimentos em modernização dos procedimentos operacionais, e que também inspira práticas de diminuição no número de empregados e de permanência de formatos tradicionais no que se refere à organização do trabalho e às políticas de remuneração e de capacitação profissional dos empregados.
