Resumo: Study descriptive and exploratory developed in two teams of Family Health, in the municipality of President Venceslau SP, in order to characterize the profile of the elderly hypertensive patients who do not attend the activities of the Hiperdia and identify possible factors that interfere in the accession to this program. Data were collected in June 2007, with 36 families through a semi-structured. It was observed that the prevalence of non-membership of the elderly to the program is 8.5%, elderly and families know about the disease, and that if there is no dependence, the family is not involved with the treatment. .

La coleta de dados ocurrió en junio del 2007, donde 36 familias participaran por medio de entrevista semi estructurada. Se observó una prevalencia de 8,5% de ancianos en la no adhesión al programa, tanto los ancianos como sus familiares mostraran no tener conocimientos a cerca de la enfermedad, y que por el echo del anciano no depender de cuidados en general la familia no se compromete con el tratamiento.Estudo descritivo-exploratório desenvolvido em duas Equipes de Saúde da Família, no município de Presidente Venceslau SP, com o objetivo de caracterizar o perfil dos idosos hipertensos que não freqüentam as atividades do Hiperdia e identificar os possíveis fatores que interferem na adesão a este programa. Os dados foram coletados em junho de 2007, junto a 36 famílias por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada.
