Resumo: | This paper reports the set of activities performed by the Lactation Consultant Nurse in an University Hospital on the occasion of “Baby Friendly Hospital” implantation initiative. This professional is prepared to prevent, recognize and solve difficulties belonging to the binomy mother-baby concerning to breastfeeding. The main occupation of the Lactation Consultant Nurse is to assemble the different activities which involve the Institution, its staff and the users in behalf of breastfeeding, developing assistance, educational and administrative activities that intends to attend the “Ten steps for successful breastfeeding” preconized by UNICEF and WHO. |

Esta profesional está entrenada para prevenir, reconocer y solucionar dificultades de la pareja madre-nene en lo que toca a lactancia. La principal función de la Enfermera Consultora en Lactancia Materna es integrar las distintas actividades que envuelven la Institución, equipo y clientela en favor de la lactancia, desarrollando actividades asistenciales, educativas y administrativas que buscan el cumplimiento de los “Diez pasos para el éxito de la lactancia” preconizados por la UNICEF y la OMS.O presente trabalho relata a construção das atividades da Enfermeira Consultora em Aleitamento Materno em um hospital universitário por ocasião da implantação da iniciativa “Hospital Amigo da Criança”. Esta profissional está preparada para prevenir, reconhecer e resolver dificuldades da dupla mãe-bebê no que se refere à amamentação.
