Resumo: This article is the result of reflections on the study carried out for the completion of the Nursing School at the Federal University of Santa Maria-RS, Brazil. It relates to the Nursing Care on Health Education to the child being that lives with the HIV/AIDS and was developed at the Pediatric Infectious Disease Service of Santa Maria University Hospital-RS, Brazil. Trying to find subsidies in order to make a reflection on the child-being, one resorted to the Humanistic Nursing Theory by Paterson and Zderad that enlightened the followed way, and provided a reflection on the Nursing knowledge, its purpose and its direction in the care science.

Se refiere al cuidado en Enfermería, en la educación en salud del ser niño que convive con el HIV/SIDA, desarrollado en el Servicio de Enfermedades Infecciosas Pediátricas del Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria-RS, Brasil. En la búsqueda de subsidios para reflexionar acerca del ser niño, se ha consultado la Teoría de la Enfermería Humanística de Paterson y Zderad, que alumbró el camino percorrido, además de propiciar la reflexión sobre el saber de la Enfermería, su finalidad y dirección en la ciencia del cuidado.Este artigo é resultado de reflexões a partir do estudo realizado para conclusão do Curso de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria/RS. Refere-se ao cuidado em Enfermagem, na educação em saúde, ao ser-criança que convive com o HIV/AIDS, desenvolvido no Serviço de Doenças Infecciosas Pediátricas do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria/RS.
