Summary: This study aims at understanding the participation of the family in the process of caring the hospitalized child from the perception of nurses. This qualitative and exploratory study was carried out at the Pediatric Inpatient Units of Internment of a University Hospital in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil. Thirteen nurses were included. Data were collected using free observation and semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis was applied, taking into account ethical considerations. The study highlights the process of care of the child and the family, providing support for the understanding issues derived from care relationships in the triad child-family-nursing team.

Es una investigación cualitativa exploratoria desarrollada en -las Unidades de Internación Pediátrica de un Hospital Universitario en Porto Alegre, RS, Brasil. Participaron trece enfermeras. Para la recolección de las informaciones, se utilizó observación libre y entrevista semiestructurada. El análisis fue del tipo temático, siendo respetadas las cuestiones éticas. El estudio destaca el proceso de cuidar al niño y a la familia que ofrece aportaciones para la comprensión de factores que emanan de las relaciones de cuidado en la tríada niño-familia-equipo de enfermeríaEste estudo busca compreender a participação da família no processo de cuidado da criança hospitalizada na percepção de enfermeiras. Para a coleta das informações utilizou-se a observação livre e entrevista semi-estruturada. A análise foi do tipo temática, sendo respeitadas as questões éticas.
