When children are learning communicate through oral language, they are also learning mental representation, discrimination and storage of specific categories that form phonological patterns (SILVA & GUIMARÃES, 2013). Thus, in development of speech, a series of skills is required to form the Auditory Processing – AP - (TERTO & LEMOS, 2011). According Cagliari (2004), “Uma criança que escreve “disi” não está cometendo um erro de distração, mas transportando para o domínio da escrita algo que reflete sua percepção da fala”. Considering that phonological discrimination can influence the written acquisition, this research proposes to investigate the recurrence of orthographic changes regarding the sound feature produced by a child with T21 in the process of acquiring written language. For this, written productions of a child with T21, whose productions involve the sonority feature, were collected at Núcleo de Pesquisa Saber Down Saber Down located at Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia- UESB. The results point to the recurrence of spelling shift involving sonorous sound, which may be a result of the way this child perceives the sonority of the phonemes.
