Resumo: The objective of this article is to assess the impact of law 12.711/2012 – the Quota Law. To achieve this, a literature review was conducted, comparing the performance of quota students and non-quota students in the Enade exam, and analyzing the retention and graduation rates of these students in different courses. The results indicate that the performance of quota students is very close to that of non-quota students and superior to that of students from private institutions. The retention and graduation rates among quota and non-quota students vary depending on the course, but they are similar.

Para ello, se realizó una revisión de la literatura, comparando el rendimiento de los estudiantes beneficiarios de cuotas y los no beneficiarios en el examen Enade, y analizando la permanencia y la graduación de estes estudiantes en diferentes cursos. Los resultados indican que el rendimiento de los estudiantes beneficiarios de cuotas es muy similar al de los no beneficiarios y superior al de los estudiantes de instituciones privadas. La permanencia y la graduación entre los estudiantes beneficiarios de cuotas y los no beneficiarios varían según el curso, pero son similares.O objetivo do artigo é avaliar o impacto da Lei 12.711/2012 – a Lei de Cotas. Para isso, foi feito um levantamento da literatura, comparado o desempenho de cotistas e não cotistas no Enade e analisadas a permanência e a diplomação desses estudantes em diferentes cursos. Os resultados apontam que o desempenho de cotistas é bem próximo ao de não cotistas e superior ao de estudantes de instituições privadas.
