Resumo: The paper discusses the implications to the agricultural sector In the Mercosul countries, within the context of market globalization and formation of regional blocs. First, it presents the debate between multilateralism and regionalism, pointing out to the formation of regional blocs as a feasible alternative to the global market liberalization. Next, it discusses the benefits and costs of the process of regional integration. Then, it points out the implications to the agricultural sector in the Mercosul, with indications of actions to be taken by the public and private sectors.

A seguir, aborda os benefícios e custos do processo de integração regional.
