Resumo: This article aims to measure the effect of the Ciências sem Fronteiras program(CSF) in the students’ academic formation, by presenting estimates of its impact on thegrades of the beneficiaries, using the microdata of the Exame Nacional de Desempenhode Estudantes (Enade) 2013. The methodology used was the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) for the purpose of compare the CSF’s students with a two control group: a)students who not participated of study abroad; b) students who participated of studyabroad programs other than the CSF. The results reveal that the CSF program has apositive and significant impact in two student’s performance measures (general gradeand general knowledge) taking into consideration different algorithms to match thepairs independent the comparison group. However, the results are small compared tothe costs of the program.

However, the results are small compared tothe costs of the program.O trabalho objetiva mensurar o efeito do programa Ciência sem Fronteiras(CSF) no desempenho estudantil, apresentando estimativas do seu impacto na notados ex-bolsistas do programa a partir de microdados do Exame Nacional de Desempenho de Estudantes (Enade) de 2013. A metodologia empregada foi o propensity scorematching (PSM) com o propósito de comparar os alunos do CSF com dois grupos decontrole: a) estudantes que participaram de nenhum programa de intercâmbio; b) estudantes que fizeram intercâmbio, por meio de outros programas, durante a graduação. Os resultados revelam que o CSF tem um impacto positivo e significativo emduas medidas de desempenho dos alunos: nota geral e formação geral para diferentestipos de pareamento independente do grupo de comparação.
