Resumo: This paper analysis the role of the products associated with agribusiness in the Brazilian development between 1980, 1990 and 1998, throughout their effects in production and employment. It also investigates the impact of the Brazilian agricultural policy in the whole economy, making use of linkage indexes for production and employment. These were computed following the methodological procedure of Rasmussen and Jones. The main conclusion is that the agribusiness complex, despite the unfavorable economic policy, still has important impact over the Brazilian economy, mainly in terms of buying of inputs and employment generation.

Ele analisa, também, os efeitos da política agrícola do Governo brasileiro no conjunto da economia, através dos índices de encadeamento da produção e do emprego. O cálculo dos referidos índices partiu do modelo de Leontief, segundo as metodologias de Rasmussen e de Jones.
