The youth labor market in Brazil:: the conditions of employment and unemployment of young Brazilians

Resumo: The Brazilian youth population comprises thirty-seven million people aged between 15 and 24 years old, who face some obstacles to enter and remain in the labor market, among them: the high unemployment rate, a deficient educational system for their technological development imposed by the globalization process. These problems were reinforced by the economic and health crisis of COVID-19. Therefore, the central objective of this study is to analyze the job market for young people in Brazil in the years 2019 to 2022 in the periods before and after the pandemic. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the results, making it possible to observe an increase in school dropouts, financial dependence and the number of young people looking for a job during the pandemic period, but with positive perspectives from 2022 onwards.

Entre estos desafíos se encuentran la alta tasa de desempleo y un sistema educativo deficiente para su desarrollo tecnológico que impone el proceso de globalización. Estos problemas se vieron reforzados por la crisis económica y sanitaria del covid-19. Así, el objetivo central de este estudio es analizar el mercado de trabajo de los jóvenes en Brasil, en los años 2019 a 2022, en los períodos antes y después de la pandemia. Para evaluar los resultados se utilizaron estadísticas descriptivas, lo que permitió observar un aumento de la deserción escolar, la dependencia financiera y el número de jóvenes en busca de trabajo, en el período de pandemia, pero con perspectivas positivas a partir de 2022.A população jovem brasileira é formada por 37 milhões de pessoas na faixa etária entre 15 e 24 anos, que enfrentam alguns obstáculos para ingressar e permanecer no mercado de trabalho. Entre esses desafios estão a alta taxa de desemprego e um sistema educacional deficitário para seu desenvolvimento tecnológico imposto pelo processo de globalização. Esses problemas foram reforçados pela crise econômica e sanitária da covid-19. Assim, o objetivo central deste estudo é analisar o mercado de trabalho para os jovens no Brasil, nos anos de 2019 a 2022, nos períodos anteriores e posteriores à pandemia.
