Resumo: Contrary to the visions that holds the end of the progressive cycle or the persistence of leftist authoritarian populist governments in the region, we argue that what has been observed in the last twenty years are political and social movements linked to progressive governments of a post-neoliberal nature, maintaining a notable electoral success in the medium term. Progressivism has experienced two major waves at the regional level mediated by a counter wave of center-right and far-right forces in the region. Progressivism has suffered setbacks, but they have been less derived from electoral processes and the most important can be attributed to neo-coups or actions of lawfare.
