Financing the Federal University of Cariri in light of sustainable development in a crisis context

The objective of this study is to present the current aspects that are reflecting on the financing of the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA) in the current context of crisis. This is a case study, with a qualitative approach, with a survey of bibliographic and documental research and application of a questionnaire to managers who relate directly to the financing of the mentioned educational institution. Initially, the sample totaled nine participants, of which only two accepted the invitation. The questionnaires were applied between the months of May and July 2021. The research reinforced the current discourse on the difficulties faced by public universities in Brazil, demonstrating that the cuts and budget restrictions that should be allocated to higher education affect the development of educational institutions, the local community, science, and undoubtedly the progress of teaching, research, and extension activities.
