Resumo: O presente trabalho teve como objetivo principal contextualizar os Investimentos Socialmente Responsáveis primeiramente de forma histórica e, também, em relação ao cenário brasileiro de forma empírica. A apresentação foi feita através da abordagem das externalidades econômicas e o Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial BM&FBOVESPA foi comparado, através do modelo CAPM, aos rendimentos de um fundo tradicional. Não houve diferença estatística entre os dois fundos, concluindo-se que os rendimentos do fundo ético e dos fundos tradicionais não apresentam diferenças.

They are analyzed from a historical perspective and positioned in the present context of the Brazilian society using an empirical approach. The economic externalities directly related with this type of investment are also presented. The Corporate Sustainability Index (Índice de Sustentabilidade Empresarial – ISE) by BM&FBOVESPA is compared against a regular investment fund using the CAPM model.
