Resumo: The debates about the National Curricular Common Base (BNCC) have highlighted positions that propose restrictions on the study of antiquity and the Middle Ages in basic education, a position that mobilized Brazilian medievalists in order to justify the permanence of the area in school education and to initiate a reflection on the teaching of medieval history in schools. The BNCC is the document that will guide all levels of education in Brazil, so this article discusses the presence of the Middle Ages in the three versions of BNCC and present some notes about the insertion of the Middle Ages in school education.
