Resumo: | The article addresses dissonant and contrary reactions to digital environments marked by the notion of personalization, focusing on the Facebook News Feed. The objective of the research is to reflect on the dynamics of contestation of algorithmic personalization systems on online platforms from the observation of browser extensions that seek to intervene in these functionalities. For this, three browser extensions produced by Facebook users who seek to eliminate the News Feed are analyzed. Methodologically, the study presents an exploratory research, which aims to describe each mechanism from its meanings and action programs. In this sense, the analysis is developed from the historiography of digital tools and material semiotics, with the objective of mapping the construction of meanings and actions that the analyzed extensions aim to prescribe. Finally, it can be seen that the actions of the extensions are conceived as an expansion of the autonomy of users in face of Facebook to, from the elimination of the feed, deal with effects considered undesirable from their action. |

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul2023-05-17info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/12927610.19132/1807-8583.55.129276Intexto; No. 55 (2023); 129276Intexto; Núm. 55 (2023); 129276Intexto; No. 55 (2023); 129276Intexto; N. 55 (2023); 129276Intexto; n. 55 (2023); 1292761807-8583reponame:Intexto (Porto Alegre)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/129276/88706Copyright (c) 2023 Willian Fernandes Araújohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAraújo, Willian Fernandes2023-12-13T14:34:20Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/129276Revistahttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intextoONGhttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intexto/oai||intexto@ufrgs.br1807-85831807-8583opendoar:2023-12-13T14:34:20Intexto (Porto Alegre) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false |
