Flows and territoriality: quilombola community as drain line

Resumo: This paper aims to study the ‘quilombo’ culture in migration to urban areas. The urban territory we have focused on is the Community Quilombola Areal da Baronesa, located in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The theoretical framework is inspired on the unfolding of semiotic machines developed by Deleuze and Guattari, with emphasis on the concepts of flows and territoriality. The symbolic meanings of the artifacts will be analyzed - behaviors, rituals, every day practices, among other manifestations of that Community. Culture practices stimulate design practices. These practices provide inputs for the discussions that considers them as ecosystems whose creative design processes are capable of producing artifacts that can transform social reality. The production of effects of meanings will be contemplated as well as culture expressions, practice of symbolic power, expressions of desire and social innovation.

O território urbano em foco é a Comunidade Quilombola Areal da Baronesa, situada em Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. O referencial teórico tem inspiração nos desdobramentos das máquinas semióticas desenvolvidaspor Deleuze e Guattari, com ênfase nos conceitos de fluxos e territorialidade. Serão analisados os significados simbólicos dos artefatos - comportamentos, rituais, práticas cotidianas, entre outras manifestações da Comunidade do Areal. As práticas de cultura estimulam as práticas de design. Essas práticas ofereceminsumos para a discussão que as consideram como ecossistemas cujos processos projetuais criativos são capazes de produzir artefatos que transformam a realidade social.
