Resumo: | The proselytism carried out by Pentecostal leaders in electoral periods makes these social actors take advantage of the evangelical homogeneity to implement power projects through democratic processes. To better understand the phenomenon, this article analyzed services in five churches during the 2020 Curitiba City Council election with the help of Charaudeau's Semiolinguistics, which detected, organized, and measured political-discursive strategies. While religious leaders adopted the chief ethos and a delocutive speech, used to advise their followers in the name of Jesus Christ, candidates based their ethé and pathé on strong character, virtue, and shared beliefs with this religious group, increasingly linked to fundamentalism. In this way, we intend to contribute to the debate of these leaders’ participation in the party politics of a secular State immersed in a transition that will soon make evangelism the religion with the largest number of affiliations in Brazil. |

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul2024-01-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/13333310.19132/1807-8583.56.133333Intexto; No. 56 (2024)Intexto; Núm. 56 (2024)Intexto; No. 56 (2024)Intexto; N. 56 (2024)Intexto; n. 56 (2024)1807-8583reponame:Intexto (Porto Alegre)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/intexto/article/view/133333/90645Copyright (c) 2024 Mateus Leonardi Redivo, Carla Cândida Rizzottohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Redivo, Mateus Leonardi Rizzotto, Carla Cândida2024-04-17T18:38:14Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/133333Revistahttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intextoONGhttp://seer.ufrgs.br/intexto/oai||intexto@ufrgs.br1807-85831807-8583opendoar:2024-04-17T18:38:14Intexto (Porto Alegre) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false |
