Resumo: In this paper we propose to describe the disenchantment of tobacco growers from the Vale do Rio Pardo, Brazil. For this we analyze the relationship between organizations and individuals from the perspective of Weberian thought, based mainly on the concepts of rationalization and domination. We understand that the act of "obey" confronting different rationalities does not happen primarily due to the order that people believe to be legitimate, but they believe it is inevitable. Analyses were performed according to comprehensive sociology of Max Weber (1998) in a qualitative way using an analysis of discussions among small groups (Gamson, 2011) and in-depth interviews with farmers. We found out that the tobacco growers establish a resistant behavior towards the institutional changes.

Para tanto analisamos as relações entre organizações e sujeitos sob a perspectiva do pensamento weberiano, fundamentado, principalmente, nos conceitos de racionalização e de dominação. Entendemos que o ato de "obedecer", que confronta diferentes racionalidades, acontece não essencialmente devido à ordem que as pessoas creem ser legítimas, mas que acreditam ser inevitáveis. As análises foram realizadas conforme a sociologia compreensiva de Max Weber, de forma qualitativa, utilizando como técnica grupos de discussão e entrevistas em profundidade com famílias rurais que plantam tabaco e vivem no Vale do Rio Pardo/RS, Brasil. Observamos nas organizações deste rural a comunicação em uma perspectiva instrumental e conectada à ideia de desenvolvimento econômico.
