Resumo: The objective of the study is to analyze the patents granted in thepublic universities from the South of Brazil in the knowledge areas – where theycome from and in which areas they are classified according to the InternationalPatent Classification -, and as specific objectives to map the public universitiesfrom the South of the country and its patents; identify International PatentClassification areas and knowledge areas of the National Council for Scientificand Technological Development , to which the patents belong to; and establishthe contribution relation that each knowledge area of National Council forScientific and Technological Development performs in each International PatentClassification area. The patents survey was conducted in the database of theNational Institute of Industrial Property. After collecting the classificationnumber, the National Council for Scientific and Technological Developmenttable knowledge areas were crossed. The section of the International PatentClassification that presented the largest number of patent concessions was the"C - Chemistry; Metallurgy", with 25 registrations. The knowledge areas ofNational Council for Scientific and Technological Development that publishedin the section were: Biochemistry, Civil Engineering, Materials andMetallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Sanitary Engineering andChemistry. The big area of "Engineering" was the one that obtained the largest volume of patents, totaling 24. The schooling of the most productive inventors, who belong to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, concentrated in thearea of Chemistry.

2019; 111-1321808-52451807-8893reponame:Em Questão (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)instacron:UFRGSporhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/index.php/EmQuestao/article/view/77520/49852Copyright (c) 2018 Adriana Stefani Cativelli, William Barbosa Vianna, Adilson Luiz Pintohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessStefani Cativelli, AdrianaBarbosa Vianna, WilliamPinto, Adilson Luiz2024-03-27T15:31:31Zoai:seer.ufrgs.br:article/77520Revistahttps://seer.ufrgs.br/emquestao/PUBhttps://seer.ufrgs.br/EmQuestao/oaiemquestao@ufrgs.br||emquestao@ufrgs.br1808-52451807-8893opendoar:2024-03-27T15:31:31Em Questão (Online) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)false
