Resumo: The film Amnésia is analysed in a referential framework that evokes the concepts of time, memory and information; its point of departure are the impressions postgraduates students in information science have of the film. The proposed analysis attempts to reflect on the relations between information and memory and their significance in contemporary society as favoring rapidity, efficacy and efficiency of information, trying to put a high premium on information and its means of transmission all the while one is rapidly causing those same means to become obsolete. At the same time, the article seeks to understand how individuals move through this paradox of a superabundance of informational registers and the difficulties they have in trying to give it a kind of meaning; of the impotence of the subject which loses memory and instinct and which appears dislocated in time, society and space.

El análisis propuesto se basa en reflexiones sobre las relaciones entre información y memoria, así como sobre su significación en la sociedad contemporánea, que privilegia la rapidez, la eficacia y la eficiencia de la información y supervalora la información y sus medios de transmisión, al tiempo que se observa una tendencia a tornar rapidamente obsoletos tanto la información como los medios de transmitirla. Se trata también de comprender cómo las personas conviven con la paradoja de la abundancia de informaciones y de la dificultad de atribuírles cualquier sentido; de la impotencia del sujeto que perdió la memoria y el instinto y parece perdido en el tiempo, en la sociedad y en el espacio.O filme Amnésia é analisado neste artigo num quadro de referências que evoca os conceitos de tempo, memória e informação e adota como ponto de partida as impressões dos alunos da disciplina Memória e Informação do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação da Universidade de Brasília sobre o filme. A análise proposta busca refletir sobre as relações entre informação e memória e o seu significado na sociedade contemporânea que privilegia a rapidez, a eficácia e a eficiência da informação; que supervaloriza a informação e os meios de transmiti-las, ao mesmo tempo em que tende a torná-los – meios e informação – rapidamente obsoletos.
