Beyond good business: cultural public polices to become good ancestors

Resumo: This work is part of a dissertation defended in the Graduate Program in Information Science from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. The article discusses different approaches to public policies that encourage culture, as well as the role of the State and society for the development of projects for acting towards a greater collective consciousness regarding social and cultural responsibilities. We observe the logic of financing institutions of culture and the necessary action and intervention if the government. The financing of culture, however, should not be dissociated from the analysis of cultural policies and the responsibility of federal, state and municipal levels, even though there are partnerships with private institutions. We also examine dichotomous notions of meritocracy.

Evocam-se abordagens sobre políticas públicas de incentivo à cultura, bem como o papel do Estado e da sociedade no sentido de se desenvolverem propostas de ação para uma maior consciência coletiva em torno das responsabilidades socioculturais. Abordam-se a lógica do financiamento de instituições de cultura e a necessária atuação/intervenção do governo. O financiamento da cultura, contudo, não deve ser dissociado das análises de políticas culturais e da responsabilidade dos governos federal, estadual e municipal, ainda que haja parcerias com instituições privadas. Indicam-se, ainda, noções dicotômicas de meritocracia.
