Resumo: This article aims to reflect, from the analysis of declassified US documents, the role of the German community led by Paul Schäfer in Chile, Colonia Dignidad, as a place of prison, torture and murder used by the main Chilean repressive body, the Directorate of National Intelligence (DINA). Established the dictatorship in Chile in 1973, Augusto Pinochet ordered the creation of a powerful intelligence and intelligence structure with the possibility of eliminating opponents of the regime. Thus, under the precepts of State Terrorism, DINA began to operate, establishing clandestine places of detention across the country. In this sense, Dignidad not only as a local, but also as one of the most prominent contributors to human rights violations of the period. KEYWORDS: Chilean dictatorship - DINA - Colonia Dignidad - repressionO presente artigo tem como objetivo refletir, a partir da análise de documentos desclassificados dos EUA, o papel da comunidade alemã liderada por Paul Schäfer no Chile, Colonia Dignidad, enquanto espaço de prisão, tortura e assassinato utilizado pelo principal órgão do aparato repressivo chileno, a Dirección de Inteligencia Nacional (DINA). Instaurada a ditadura no Chile em 1973, Augusto Pinochet ordenou a criação de uma poderosa estrutura de Inteligência e informação com a finalidade de eliminar os opositores do regime. Assim, sob os preceitos do Terrorismo de Estado, a DINA passou a atuar, estabelecendo recintos clandestinos de detenção por todo o país. Nesse sentido, Dignidad surge não apenas como local, mas também como uma das mais destacadas colaboradoras nas violações aos direitos humanos do período.
