COOPERATIVE LEARNING AS A TEACHING STRATEG FOR ACCOUNTING: INTELLECTUAL SKILLS OF THE COGNITIVE DOMAIN TAXONOMY

Resumo: Professional qualification has been influenced by the demands of the labor market, which has required intellectual skills for professionals to be absorbed into the work environment. Among these skills, communication and social interaction are especially important. In this sense, the present research seeks to verify the contributions that cooperative learning can provide for the academic performance and communication skills of accounting graduates.  In order to reach such objective, two intellectual abilities of Bloom´s taxonomy were chosen: application and analysis. In the application, the academic performance was verified through the Jigsaw cooperative learning strategy, and in the analysis, the written communication was investigated through the Cloze technique. The experiment was carried out with the academics of the seventh period of Accounting Sciences of a public university. The sample consisted of 34 students enrolled in the discipline of Fiscal Accounting. The collected data were analyzed using analysis of variance for the application and analysis category and the Tukey test. The results revealed that cooperative learning contributed to improved written communication skills; however, there was no significant difference in the application category (academic performance).

Entre esas habilidades, se destaca la comunicación y la interacción social. En ese sentido, el presente estudio procura verificar las contribuciones que el aprendizaje cooperativo puede proporcionar para el rendimiento académico y para la habilidad de comunicación de los académicos de Ciencias Contables. Para alcanzar lo propuesto, se escogieron dos habilidades intelectuales de la taxonomía de Bloom: aplicación y análisis, teniendo en cuenta que en la aplicación, se verificó el rendimiento académico através del aprendizaje cooperativo Jigsaw y, en el análisis, se investigó la comunicación escrita através  de la técnica Cloze. El experimento fue realizado con los académicos del séptimo período de Ciencias Contables de una universidad pública. La prueba estaba constituida por 34 académicos matriculados en la asignatura de Contabilidad Fiscal. Los datos recogidos fueron analizados utilizando el análisis de varianza para la categoría de aplicación y análisis, y la prueba de Turkey. Los resultados revelaron que el aprendizaje cooperativo contribuyó para la mejora de la habilidad de comunicación escrita, sin embargo, no presentó diferencia significativa en la categoría de aplicación (rendimiento académico).A formação profissional tem sido influenciada pelas exigências do mercado de trabalho, o qual tem requerido habilidades intelectuais dos profissionais para serem absorvidos no mercado de trabalho. Dentre essas habilidades, destaca-se a comunicação e a interação social. Nesse sentido, a presente pesquisa busca-se verificar as contribuições que a aprendizagem cooperativa pode proporcionar para o desempenho acadêmico e para a habilidade de comunicação dos acadêmicos de Ciências Contábeis. Para alcançar o proposto, escolheram-se duas habilidades intelectuais da taxonomia de Bloom: aplicação e análise, sendo que na aplicação, verificou-se o desempenho acadêmico através da aprendizagem cooperativa Jigsaw e na análise investigou a comunicação escrita através da técnica Cloze. O experimento foi realizado com os acadêmicos do sétimo período de Ciências Contábeis de uma universidade pública. A amostra foi constituída por 34 acadêmicos matriculados na disciplina de Contabilidade Fiscal. Os dados coletados foram analisados utilizando a análise de variância para a categoria aplicação e análise e o teste de Tukey.
