INVESTMENT ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORTATION SEGMENT UNDER UNCERTAINTY AND RISK

Resumo: The displacement of the population in Brazilian cities has been accomplished largely by collective bus, which established itself as the main modality of transportation in the country. Thus, the paper aims to use the tools and concepts of engineering economics in order to analyze the viability of investment in creating a business of intercity transportation in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the city of Natal. The methods used for the evaluation were the Sensitivity Analysis, Scenario Analysis and Monte Carlo simulation, to understand the investment behavior under uncertainty and risk. Finally, it was revealed that the industry is in serious danger, if not clandestine surveillance in transport intensifies. However, in view of the prevailing economic conditions, the project demonstrates advantageous, requiring only 10% of own resources for the investment.Keywords: Economic Viability. Transportation. Sensitivity Analysis.El desplazamiento de la población en las ciudades brasileñas que se ha logrado en gran medida por autobus colectivo, que se consolida como el principal medio de transporte en el país. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo utilizar las herramientas y conceptos de ingeniería económica con el fin de analizar la viabilidad de la inversión en la creación de una empresa de transporte interurbano en el estado de Rio Grande do Norte, en Natal. Los métodos utilizados para la evaluación fueron el Análisis de Sensibilidad, Análisis de Escenarios y Simulación de Monte Carlo, para entender el comportamiento de la inversión en condiciones de incertidumbre y riesgo. Finalmente, se reveló que el sector está en riesgo de viabilidad, si no se intensifica en la vigilancia clandestina de transporte. Sin embargo, en vista de las condiciones económicas actuales, el proyecto resulta ser ventajoso, requiriendo solamente 10% de recursos propios para la inversión.Palabras claves: Viabilidad Económica. Análisis de sensibilidad.O deslocamento da população nas cidades brasileiras tem sido realizado em grande parte por ônibus coletivos, no qual se consolida como a principal modalidade de transporte no país. Assim, esse trabalho teve como objetivo a utilização de ferramentas e conceitos de engenharia econômica no intuito de analisar a viabilidade do investimento na criação de uma empresa de transporte intermunicipal no estado do Rio Grande do Norte, em Natal. Os métodos utilizados para avaliação foram a Análise de Sensibilidade, a Análise de Cenários e a Simulação de Monte Carlo, visando compreender o comportamento do investimento em condições de incerteza e risco. Por fim, foi possível perceber que o setor corre riscos de viabilidade, caso a fiscalização nos transportes clandestinos não se intensifique. Porém, tendo em vista as condições econômicas vigentes, o projeto se demonstra vantajoso, necessitando apenas de 10% de recursos próprios para realização do investimento.Palavras-chave: Viabilidade Econômica.
