Resumo: Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar a emergência e institucionalização do proibicionismo no Brasil a partir da criação da Comissão Nacional de Fiscalização de Entorpecentes (CNFE) em 1936. Neste sentido, procuro analisar os eventos que motivaram sua organização até 1941, ano em que a mesma se consolidou como uma estrutura de caráter governamental e instância máxima da política proibicionista no Brasil.
