As competências do professor de EAD: perspectivas dos professores do curso de licenciatura em pedagogia da UFRN

Resumo: This paper presents an analysis of a qualitative research done with 04 (four) professors of the distance education course of Pedagogy, offered by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, on their perceptions about the skills needed to work in this course. The distance education (DE) is a current trend and one of the growing areas in the education sector. It is a viable and flexible alternative for students who, for some reason, cannot or do not have the time to attend a face-to-face course. Present in various levels of education in Brazil, distance learning has peculiarities such as the physical distance between teacher and student and the mediation process made possible by information and communication technologies (ICT), especially over the internet, through virtual learning environments. With the expansion of distance education courses it also arises some concerns about the quality of the courses offered and the training teachers have been receiving to work in this type of education. Therefore, considerations are made relating the opinions of teachers who participated in this research to the administrative, technological and facilitation skills related by Kemshal-Bell, 2001. The sampling, though not considerable, allowed some important considerations in relation to the pedagogical work that has been developed on this course. Both the teacher and the student have specific responsibilities in the teaching-learning process. The teacher as planner and mediator of educational activities and the student as co-responsible for his or her learning, through the dedication and interest in the studies. If these actors do not act in tune the objectives set in the course program have great chances of not being achieved

If these actors do not act in tune the objectives set in the course program have great chances of not being achievedO artigo apresenta análises acerca de uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada com 04 (quatro) professores do curso de licenciatura em Pedagogia, ofertado pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, na modalidade a distância, sobre suas percepções em relação as competências necessárias para atuar no curso em questão. A educação a distância (EaD) é uma tendência atual e uma das áreas crescentes no ramo da educação. Uma alternativa viável e flexível para alunos que, por alguma razão, não possam ou não tenham tempo de frequentar um curso presencial. Presente em vários níveis de ensino no Brasil, a EaD possui peculiaridades como a distância física entre professor e aluno e a mediatização possibilitada pelas tecnologias da informação e comunicação (TIC), em especial através da internet, via ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem. Com a expansão de cursos em EaD, surgem também as preocupações com a qualidade dos cursos oferecidos e com a formação dos professores que atuam nessa modalidade de ensino. Assim sendo, considerações são feitas relacionando as opiniões dos professores que participaram dessa pesquisa às competências administrativas, tecnológica e de facilitação relacionadas por Kemshal-Bell, 2001. A amostragem, embora não tenha sido considerável, permitiu algumas reflexões importantes em relação ao trabalho pedagógico que tem sido desenvolvido na oferta desse curso. Tanto o professor quanto o aluno têm responsabilidades específicas no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. O professor como planejador e mediador das ações educativas e o aluno como co-responsável pela sua aprendizagem, através da dedicação e do interesse naquilo que lhe é disponibilizado.
