Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the prevalence of dyslipidemias in women deprived of their liberty in a closed regime. METHODOLOGY: Cross-sectional, observational, descriptive study developed with the totality of female inmates in a closed regime in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. For this research, it was used secondary data from the prisoners' health documents with registration of the blood tests performed at the institution in 2012 and 2015. Was investigated the prevalence of isolated hypercholesterolemia, isolated hypertriglyceridemia, mixed hyperlipidemia and low HDL-c, according to the Brazilian Guidelines for Dyslipidemias and Prevention of Artherosclerosis. The comparison of the prevalences in the two moments occurred through the Chi-square test. RESULTS: There was a significant reduction in the prevalence of low HDL, decreasing from 80.6% in 2012 to 61.8% in 2015 (p = 0.001). The prevalence of isolated hypertriglyceridemia increased from 17.8% in 2012 to 27% in 2015 (p = 0.08), while the frequency of mixed hyperlipidemia and isolated hypercholesterolemia did not show a significant change in the period studied. CONCLUSION: The prison scene may favor changes in the lipid profile of women deprived of their liberty in a closed regime, and contribute to the development and / or aggravation of chronic noncommunicable diseases. Thus, it is necessary to intensify the health actions directed to this group, aiming to control the multiple factors that may be involved in this process of illness.
