Resumo: Conventional construction processes, composed of masonry of ceramic bricks, for example, widely used, come over time contributing to the generation of serious environmental damage with the production of solid waste, as well as to a perpetuation of a practice that, if on the one hand it does not require an accurate qualification of the workforce, ends up contributing to a low productivity in the construction industry. Contrary to this practice, monolithic expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels are a very interesting option and have been used in the construction of various buildings. EPS's monolithic panel system is an integrated set of modular panels with structural and / or closing function, composed of prefabricated expanded polystyrene panels, mounted between two galvanized steel meshes welded and coated with micro concrete. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the relevance of the implementation of new technologies and the development of projects with this constructive system, through the final result of an architectural project for a single family dwelling, located on the beach of Jacumã, Ceará Mirim Municipality, state of Rio Grande do Norte. For that, we used researches of theoretical foundation on the construction process and reference studies in architectural projects executed with the technology. The work resulted in the proposal of a building that breaks paradigms of self-supporting systems and unites the constructive and performance qualities of the system with principles of habitability and aesthetics.

Contrapondo-se a esta prática, os painéis monolíticos de poliestireno expandido (EPS) são uma opção bastante interessante e que vem sendo usado na construção de edificações diversas. O sistema de painéis monolíticos de EPS é um conjunto integrado de painéis modulares, com função estrutural e/ou de fechamento, compostos por placas de poliestireno expandido pré-fabricados, montadas entre duas malhas de aço galvanizado eletrossoldadas e revestidas com micro concreto. Assim, este trabalho tem por objetivo demonstrar a relevância da implementação de novas tecnologias e do desenvolvimento de projetos com esse sistema construtivo, através do resultado final de projeto arquitetônico para uma residência unifamiliar, localizada na praia de Jacumã, Município de Ceará Mirim, estado do Rio Grande de Norte. Para tanto, utilizou-se de pesquisas de fundamentação teórica sobre o processo construtivo e estudos de referência em projetos arquitetônicos executados com a tecnologia. O trabalho resultou na proposta de uma edificação que quebra paradigmas de sistemas autoportantes e une as qualidades construtivas e de desempenho do sistema com princípios de habitabilidade e
