Resumo: The research aims to drive the behavior of the trade of the Rio Grande during the period from 1991 to 2000, at which time the brazilian trade, started in Itamar Government and extending until the Government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Aiming to analyze how the evolution of trade in Rio Grande do Norte in the 1990, from the trade opening, looking for to describe that "made" contributions to the advancement of the same. The trade liberalization has facilitated international trade practices, and this process has made far-reaching dependence on brazilian and Brazil by imported products. The methodological research behavior refers to the revision of theliterature on the topic searched in books, texts, websites, articles and through surveys of data provided by the Ministry of development and foreign trade-MDIC/SECEX, Federation of trade in goods, services and tourism of the state of Rio Grande do Norte-FECOMÉRCIO RN, Ministry of labor and employment-RAIS, 2004 and RAIS (1991 to 2000). The collection and analysis of data on direct trade developments in Rio Grande do Norte during the decade of 1990.

The collection and analysis of data on direct trade developments in Rio Grande do Norte during the decade of 1990.A pesquisa visa conduzir o comportamento do comércio do Rio Grande do Norte durante o período de 1991 a 2000, momento em que ocorria a abertura comercial brasileira, começado no Governo Itamar e estendendo-se até o Governo de Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Tendo como objetivo analisar de que forma se deu a evolução do comércio no Rio Grande do Norte na década de 1990, a partir da abertura comercial, procurando descrever as contribuições desse “feito” para o avanço do mesmo. A abertura comercial facilitou as práticas de comércio internacional, e esse processo fez com que se intensificasse a dependência brasileira e potiguar por produtos importados. O comportamento metodológico da pesquisa refere-se à revisão da literatura sobre o tema pesquisado em livros, textos, sites, artigos e através de levantamentos de dados disponibilizados pelo Ministério de Desenvolvimento e Comércio Exterior - MDIC/SECEX, Federação do Comércio de Bens, Serviços e Turismo do estado do Rio Grande do Norte – FECOMÉRCIO RN, Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego – RAIS, 2004 e RAIS (1991 a 2000) do Comércio.
