The objective of this work is to identify the trajectory of the Brazilian Food Purchase Program in the four mesoregions of the state of Rio Grande do Norte in the aim to show if it has consolidated in recent years as an important marketing channel for the Family Farmers of Rio Grande do Norte. To reach this goal, a bibliographical research was carried out to establish a theoretical framework on agricultural markets and the market channels of Family Farmers. In addition, a data research was conducted in the PAA Data database to collect information about the program in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. After the data collection, treatment and illustration procedures were used using descriptive basic statistics. It was verified that the PAA is not reaching the objectives set forth in the program, since over the last few years there has been a sharp drop in resources raised by family farmers in all regions of Rio Grande do Norte.
