Resumo: This article’s main theme invites us to reflect on the importance of play in early childhood education. This is an issue that arises in the educational setting as an integral part of the first stage of basic education, acting somehow as an essential factor for the pedagogical work of the teacher in school. Considering this fact, this article was made based on review of pre-existing literature on the area, consisted mainly of scientific books and articles for reference. Its main objective was to investigate and analyze the importance of play in early childhood education. The text opens room for reflection on playing and assumes that the primacy of ludic in the routine in early childhood education can contribute to the children’s development. Among the main authors surveyed stood out Vygotsky (1998), Piaget (1978) and Wallon (2007). It’s been concluded that there is a need to include playful activities in the child's routine, considering that besides the presence of play in the daily actions, game and play provide integration with the focus centered on the child’s physical, emotional, affective, cognitive and social aspects.

Esse é um tema que se coloca no cenário educacional como parte integrante da primeira etapa da educação básica, atuando de certa forma como fator essencial para o trabalho pedagógico do professor na escola. Considerando esse fato, o presente artigo foi composto a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica desenvolvida com base em material já elaborado, constituído principalmente de referenciais vindouros de livros e artigos científicos, tendo como principal objetivo investigar e analisar a importância do brincar na educação infantil. O texto abre as portas para reflexão a respeito do brincar pressupondo que a primazia do lúdico na rotina na Educação Infantil pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento das crianças. Entre os principais autores pesquisados destacou-se Vygotsky (1998), Piaget (1978) e Wallon (2007).
